The Friends of Blue Hill Bay will be having its annual meeting on Thursday, July 30th at the Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club in Blue Hill.  This year’s meeting presentation will be by Mr. Dwayne Shaw, Executive Director of Downeast Salmon Federation (DSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring wild sea-run fish and their habitats throughout Downeast Maine.

Join the Friends and Dwayne Shaw for an afternoon exploring the challenges and opportunities facing Downeast Maine’s sea-run fish and endangered Atlantic salmon.

His talk, Breaking Barriers: Restoring Maine’s Wild Atlantic Salmon, will provide insights and stories from more than three decades of river restoration and fisheries conservation across Washington and Hancock counties. From dam removals and nature-like fishways to habitat restoration, conservation hatcheries, and advocacy surrounding industrial-scale aquaculture, the presentation will examine the barriers preventing fish from moving freely between Maine’s rivers and the Gulf of Maine, as well as the innovative efforts underway to reconnect these ecosystems.

Come join us from 4:30 – 6PM.
